Andre Petroski’s Fitness Update After Opting Out Of Rotator Cuff Surgery

In May, Andre Petroski had an anticipated debut scheduled against Armen Petrosyan. Unfortunately, he had to withdraw from the fight due to an injury, which was an unfortunate setback for him. But in another twist, the fighter dodged the procedure for his shoulder issue and will return to the octagon in August.

Continue reading to find out the update on his health and upcoming fight plans!

After securing a unanimous decision victory over Wellington Turman at UFC 281, the fighter expressed gratitude for the win’s momentum. Petroski displayed effective striking and grappling skills throughout the fight. He landed significant strikes and secured takedowns, controlling the match on the ground. Turman tried to counter with kicks and guillotine attempts, but Petroski remained composed and navigated through the challenges. In the end, Petroski’s dominant performance earned him a decisive unanimous decision victory over Turman.

However, his post-fight plans were put on hold due to his shoulder injury, which was mainly due to a tear in his rotator cuff. Fortunately, the tear was less than 50 percent in width, eliminating the need for surgery. Instead, the UFC provided valuable assistance, arranging treatments with stem cells and PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy, among other recovery methods.

After his victorious fight, he wisely decided to take a well-deserved hiatus from training, allowing his shoulder ample time, around two months, to naturally heal and undergo rehabilitation. The fighter was diligent in his rehab efforts, and thankfully, the injury has not been re-aggravated during his current training camp. Fingers crossed for his continued recovery and successful return to the octagon.

The 32-year-old will fight Gerald Meerschaert at UFC 292 on August 19. He’s been cautious during fight camp to avoid any setbacks, and he knows his opponent’s grappling-heavy strategy will put his shoulder to the test. Petroski, on the other hand, is no slouch on the mat, as a fighter who routinely competes in grappling bouts against fellow UFC fighters under the Fury Pro Grappling brand.

Petroski conveyed his plans confidently, stating that he intends to be well-rounded in his approach. He mentioned that in his previous fight, he dedicated a considerable amount of time to stand-up fighting. Petroski holds the belief that during his next match, he can strategically apply pressure on his opponent, leading them to initiate takedowns. He sees this as a favorable situation that can play to his advantage in the fight.

So, what are your predictions for his upcoming fight? Will he be able to perform to his full potential, or will his ignored injury get the better of him? Comment below to let us know!
