Mayra Bueno Silva Plans TO Follow In Now-Retired Amanda Nunes’ Footsteps At Bantamweight

For the longest time, Amanda Nunes’ wasn’t just a great fighter at UFC. Instead, she was the face of the bantamweight division. But now, there is a new girl on the block looking to become the new Bantamweight queen.

Continue reading to find out Mayra Bueno Silva’s ambitions to become the next new name in the Bantamweight division.

Amanda Nunes’ retirement from MMA may have appeared to be a significant loss in the combat sports world. However, it was a big gain for others, notably UFC women’s bantamweight challenger Mayra Bueno Silva.

With probably the best female fighter of all time out of the scene, Bueno Silva believes she has a chance to make her own reputation without being overshadowed by Nunes’ presence. Bueno Silva is the top girl at 135 pounds after a submission win over previous champion Holly Holm this past weekend at UFC on ESPN 49 in Las Vegas.

Bueno Silva stated that she had demonstrated to everyone that she was the new face of the bantamweight division. She asserted that she now required the title shot. With Nunes gone, potential contenders were disappointed by the opportunity to face the now-former two-division UFC champion. Bueno Silva has a lot of respect for Nunes, but she’s not upset she didn’t get to battle her.
She dismissed the idea with a chuckle, stating that facing Amanda was definitely not on her agenda. She expressed her gratitude towards Amanda and wished her well, emphasizing the importance of taking care of her family. Silva made a promise to claim the Brazilian belt and was determined to do so.

Looking ahead, Bueno Silva expressed her desire to face Julianna Peña for the vacant UFC women’s bantamweight belt. While she acknowledged the discussions about a possible matchup between Julianna Peña and Raquel Pennington, Silva firmly believed that her fight with Peña would be far more appealing to the audience.

According to Silva, the prospect of a bout between Raquel Pennington and Julianna Peña lacked excitement and interest. She was confident that her own fighting style brought more excitement to the table, making the matchup between her and Julianna Peña the one that fans truly wanted to see.
