The June 1 fight, which was scheduled to take place at Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, between the two former UFC stars, has been rescheduled because that date is now occupied by other events. According to MMA Junkie, the boxing match will now take place on July 6 at Honda Centre in Anaheim, California. This was confirmed after Boxing Scene released an initial story.
There were a few significant disputes in the combat sports community over the original June 1 date. On the MMA front, UFC 302 is scheduled to take place at Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey. The main event will pit undisputed champion Islam Makhachev against former interim champion Dustin Poirier for the lightweight title. Boxing star Dmitrii Bivol will take on Malik Zinad in the main event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Artur Beterbiev, his initial opponent, was forced to withdraw owing to an injury.
At UFC 244 in New York, Diaz and Masvidal first came into contact in the octagon during the first-ever BMF title battle. The boxing ring will be the site of the second meeting. To promote the bout, the two recently embarked on a four-city tour of the United States.
After defeating Tony Ferguson by submission at UFC 279, Diaz, 38, is no longer bound by a UFC contract. In August of last year, Diaz made his professional boxing debut against Jake Paul in his first bout outside of the UFC.
Masvidal, 39, has been permitted to box Diaz while still being bound by his UFC contract. The last time “Gamebred” competed was at UFC 287, where Gilbert Burns defeated him via unanimous decision.
