Is Bo Nickal Not Ready For The Top?

Henry Cejudo recently said that Bo Nickal needs to stay calm and be focused because he may be just 10 fights away from becoming UFC champion. Why did Cejudo say this?Continue reading to find out!

When he submitted Cody Brundage in Round 2 of Saturday’s main card opener at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nickal maintained his undefeated record.

Nickal gave himself two thumbs down for his performance, but Cejudo believes the outstanding wrestler still has championship potential—just not at this time.

Cejudo advised against placing undue pressure on oneself, expressing belief in the potential to become a future champion in the 185-pound division. However, he suggested that the individual may not be prepared to face the top 10 contenders. He referenced opponents like Marvin Vettori and Paulo Costa, emphasizing their formidable skills in jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and physical stature. Cejudo recommended avoiding matchups with such opponents at the current stage of development.

Cejudo suggested that at 185 pounds, the individual should aim to compete in three-round fights to gain experience and understand the endurance required for championship-level competition. He pointed out that despite winning fights decisively early on, facing opponents like Sean Strickland, Paulo ‘Borrachinha,’ Robert Whittaker, and Jared Cannonier in five-round bouts would present a significant challenge. Cejudo emphasized the depth of talent in the middleweight division and advised the individual to exercise patience, estimating that they might be approximately 10 fights away from potentially contending for the UFC championship.

Anthony Hernandez, who is ranked No. 12 in the UFC middleweight rankings and has won five straight fights, was called out by Nickal. On June 1, he is slated to take against Roman Dolidze at UFC 302.
