The headliners of Saturday’s historic UFC 300 event got a first chance to size each other up in fight week following the pre-fight press conference. In the main event of the monumental lineup, Alex Pereira (9-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) is set to put his light heavyweight title on the line for the first time against former champion Jamahal Hill (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC), who returns to action from the injury that forced him to relinquish the belt he’s looking for.
This weekend at T-Mobile Arena (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+), both men have made some harsh remarks about what they expect to happen in the octagon. Their intensity was evident when they faced off.
Pereira’s speech was sparse, but Hill’s was rife with passionate words. Hill had a chain-strung moai prop with him. When Hill flexed, the head—which Pereira has accepted and which resembles him—was creatively demolished and broke free. Pereira bore the pranks with the same stoicism as the stone.
