Brandon Moreno Patient For The Next UFC Assignment In Hopes For A Promotion

Brandon pushes for a UFC title eliminator vs. Amir Albazi, eager to make a comeback. Why is Moreno so eager for the title eliminator to happen? Is it only to prove his skills or some other motivation behind it? Continue reading to find out!

Moreno, who lost his title match to Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 290 in July, sustained a hand injury. However, he is fully recovered. He had originally planned to return to the octagon in December, and he has been for a while. Having failed to grasp it, he is currently merely awaiting a date and regards Amir Albazi as his most likely opponent.

Moreno said in an interview arranged by his sponsors at Cuervo that he had been informed about a potential fight with Amir in December. However, he mentioned that nothing had been confirmed or made official at that point. Currently, he is awaiting confirmation of a specific opponent’s name to formalize the arrangement. He expressed the belief that a bout with Amir is the most logical next step for him, suggesting that the winner of their potential fight could contend for the title in the subsequent match.

Moreno, who is ranked third in the most recent USA TODAY Sports flyweight rankings, acknowledges that there have been times when his competitive anxiety has overcome him. Despite not fully understanding the cause of the delay, he has made an effort to keep a positive outlook.

Moreno expressed his frustration, stating that the most frustrating aspect for him is being healthy while waiting for a fight. He revealed that he had actively pursued a December fight, putting pressure on the UFC and expressing his desire to remain active. He even offered to be a replacement for the title fight at UFC 296 on December 16, but according to him, the UFC did not provide any opportunities. Despite the challenges, he mentioned maintaining a composed and relaxed demeanor while waiting for his moment, utilizing the time to focus on self-improvement.

As part of its first quarter schedule for 2024, there have been rumors that the UFC is considering making its first trip back to Mexico since September 2019. Although 29-year-old Moreno is unsure if he is being held out for that date, he is hoping to hear back shortly.

Moreno stated that while competing in his native country would be an honor, his desire to fight as soon as possible takes precedence. He wants to make things right because he is sick of the taste of failure in his mouth after Pantoja ended his title reign earlier this year.

Moreno expressed that it would be very cool for him if the fight were to take place in Mexico in front of his people. He acknowledged the challenge posed by the altitude in Mexico City and mentioned the importance of being prepared for it. Despite the challenge, he conveyed his readiness, emphasizing that he has been a champion in the past and believes he can reclaim the title. He highlighted the need to remain calm, focused, and ready for whatever unfolds in the future. Furthermore, he confirmed his availability for a fight in January or February.
