Michael Page, one of the greatest homegrown talents in Bellator history, has been a free agent for some months. He was featured on the UFC 286 broadcast in March. The UFC rarely makes an effort to reach out to prospective free agents.
Page shared a picture of himself with UFC president Dana White during Thursday’s UFC 294 pre-fight news conference, fueling rumors of a possible business partnership between the two. After UFC 294 took place in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, White revealed that conversations are taking place between the two parties, and both are showing interest.
Dana White stated that there is definite interest from both parties, referring to the young fighter. He mentioned that Page is also keen on the idea. Consequently, there is a possibility that the fighter known as “MVP” might make his way to the UFC, as per White’s remarks.
The 36-year-old Page has always stated that he wants to participate in the UFC before his career is up. Page freely said as much, even at his Bellator zenith. Over the years, his relationship with Bellator fluctuated as he frequently expressed his displeasure about the promotion in public.
If Page signs with the UFC, it will be his first time competing outside of Bellator since he joined the organization in May 2014. With Bellator, he only suffered defeats twice: once via knockout against Douglas Lima and once via split decision against Logan Storley. Additionally, Page participated in a single BKFC bare-knuckle boxing match, which he lost against Mike Perry by majority decision.
Page wants to make it two wins in a row. In August 2023, he participated in Bellator 292 where he used a single kick to severely injure Goiti Yamauchi’s leg.
