Pat Miletich Couldn’t Make It Across The Finish Line

“Caged Aggression 36” resulted in Pat Miletich defeating Mike Jackson in two rounds before quitting on a stool. Miletich wanted to avenge his defeat in 2008 against fellow UFC veteran Mike Jackson but failed to do so.

Over political differences, Miletich and Jackson grew from friends to foes. They chose to resolve their differences inside the cage, as two fighters do, for the main event of Caged Aggression 36 at the River Center in Davenport, Iowa. Miletich,55, would control the battle for the majority of it, but he was knocked out in the middle of the third round, and Jackson,38, was declared the winner by TKO.

Jackson kicked the fight off with two leg kicks. Miletich drew closer in search of a takedown. Jackson displayed strong defense, and the action moved back to the cage’s middle. Then, Miletich felled Jackson with a strong right hand as Jackson prepared to land another leg kick. Miletich swiftly adopted side control on the ground and attempted to finish the bout with an Americana. The submission was not there, but Miletich moved into the crucifix position and started throwing a barrage of heavy elbows. Just enough defense was displayed by Jackson to prevent the bout from being stopped by the referee, and Miletich continued to dominate for the rest of the round.

Miletich tried his best to avoid Jackson’s opening salvo of good punches in the second round as he was quickly running out of gas. The UFC Hall of Famer followed it with a successful takedown and full mount. Jackson hid as Miletich chose to execute short strikes while in side control. Jackson was able to stand up again with one minute left and started to advance while throwing punches because Miletich’s gas tank was almost empty.

The combatants went back to their stools, but this was the final exchange. Miletich informed his corner that the fight could not go on, and it was stopped. Jackson and Jens Pulver, a fellow UFC Hall of Famer who was in Miletich’s support, had a brief conversation. Jackson received a warning from Pulver after the fight to treat people with respect, according to the commentary team.
