Is It Not In Conor McGregor’s Immediate Plans To Retire?

Conor McGregor talks candidly about his combative future and that he is taking It to his grave. What is that such thing that he is taking to his grave? What will his immediate plans look like? Continue reading to find out!

The 35-year-old McGregor looks to be a few months away from making his much-anticipated comeback. After fracturing his leg in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021, “The Notorious” was forced to miss fights. However, he made the most of his time off by acting, appearing with Jake Gyllenhaal in “Road House.”

The next matchup for McGregor is anticipated to be against Michael Chandler, potentially on June 29 during International Fight Week. Referring to the 57-year-old Mike Tyson, who is still in the ring and is set to face Jake Paul on July 20, McGregor says he intends to keep fighting to the end.

McGregor conveyed that Mike Tyson was now engaging in a fight against Jake Paul and had previously fought Roy Jones. He commented on Tyson’s age, mentioning his fight against Jones and how both fighters were older individuals. McGregor recalled a particular moment during Tyson’s interview regarding the fight with Jones, where Tyson was asked about his mentor Cus D’Amato’s potential reaction to his comeback after many years. Tyson’s response agreed with McGregor, as he expressed that Cus D’Amato would question why he had taken so long to come back to the ring.

McGregor cited fighters who have openly discussed their mental health and the strain of competing over the years, including Dustin Poirier, Georges St-Pierre, and Alexander Volkanovski.

McGregor talked about the value of mental recuperation as he prepares to return from a three-year hiatus.

McGregor stated that he acknowledges the current feeling and situation, but also recognizes the importance of rest, recovery, and adjustment. He expressed his reluctance to be in his forties and facing much younger opponents, despite them calling him out. McGregor highlighted that he has numerous potential opponents with whom he shares history, including trilogies, rematches, and new matchups, all within a similar age range. He emphasized that as long as he maintains the audience’s interest, there’s no reason why these fights couldn’t happen whenever they’re meant to, even if it’s until the end of his life.
