Max Griffin Is Not Satisfied With The Decision Of His Most Recent Match

Max Gryphon objects to Sal D’Amato, the judge, saying that Amato always picks against him. Does Amato have a bias against Max Griffin? What happened in the match that Amato gave a decision against Griffin? Continue reading to find out!

At UFC Fight Night 236 at the UFC Apex on Saturday, Gryphon defeated Jeremiah Wells via split decision. Gryphon was given a score of 29–28 by two judges, while Wells received a score of 29–28 by D’Amato.

Gryphon insisted that D’Amato had a grudge against him. In the UFC in March 2022, D’Amato was one of two judges who gave Neil Magny the split decision victory over Gryphon.

Griffin expressed his disdain for Sal D’Amato in a post-fight interview with reporters at UFC Fight Night 236. He mentioned that D’Amato consistently picks against him in various fights, including Neil Magny, and feels puzzled about the consistent negativity. Griffin speculated whether he might have wronged D’Amato in a past life or somehow offended him, leading to what he perceives as animosity from D’Amato.

Gryphon was certain that he had done enough to have his hand raised, but the majority of media observers monitored by MMA Decisions predicted Wells would win the bout on Saturday. His last four outings have been divided.

D’Amato claims to have scored four Gryphon fights in the last few years, per MMA Decisions. He scored against him in Griffin’s victory over Wells on Saturday and against him in his defeat by Magny. However, D’Amato was the sole judge to rule in favor of Gryphon in a split decision loss against Alex Oliveira in 2020 and to join two other judges in a unanimous decision victory for Gryphon against Carlos Condit.

Griffin was fully positive that he won. But did he win or he just doesn’t dare to accept defeat? Do you feel the same way about the judging of the match or do you agree with Griffin? Do let us know about your thoughts in the comment section!
