Alex Pereira, Still Willing To Headline UFC 301

This Saturday White announced that in the UFC 300 main event on April 13 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Pereira will defend his title against Jamahal Hill. Will Pereira be able to defend his title or lose it? Why does he feel he should be competing a month before the actual scheduled match? Continue reading to find out!

Although Pereira stated that he is more than prepared to compete a month early, the promotion’s original plans called for him to be the main attraction at UFC 301 on May 4 at Rio Arena.

Pereira expressed, through an interpreter on his YouTube channel, that discussions were underway with the UFC to arrange the fight in Brazil. He mentioned that the idea emerged to advance the schedule and hold it on UFC 300, which he viewed positively. Pereira conveyed that the earlier timing was advantageous for him, as he had been diligently training and was prepared for the fight. He expressed enthusiasm and readiness for the upcoming match.

Pereira would need to recover in less than a month to fight at home if he were to survive Hill. His 21-day turnaround would be the quickest in the history of the organization between title defenses; the current record, held by former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, is 56 days, from UFC 168 in December 2013 to UFC 170 in February 2014.

“Poatan” is willing to attempt as he has experienced rapid turnarounds on multiple occasions during his kickboxing career.

Pereira expressed his desire to defend the belt quickly, aiming for consecutive defenses, ideally two times. He mentioned that the upcoming events being close together presented an opportunity for him to defend at UFC 300 and potentially in Rio as well. Pereira indicated that this was a strong possibility, especially if he remained uninjured, drawing from his experience in kickboxing.

Do you agree that Pereira has the skills enough to compete in the match a month before? What are your views on the title defense match? Let us know what you think in the comment section!
