Colby Covington Eager To Get His Hands On Sean Strickland

Since UFC 296 Covington has been eager to teach Strickland a lesson and strike a few punches on him. Why do you think Covington so eagerly wants to teach Strickland a lesson? Did Strickland do anything to him or is there any other reason behind it? Continue reading to find out!

In the main event of UFC 296 on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Covington will square off against welterweight champion Leon Edwards. After early preliminary action on ESPN+ and preliminaries on ESPN2, the main card is televised on pay-per-view.

Similar to Covington, Strickland, the middleweight champion of the UFC, isn’t afraid to voice his opinions. However, Covington finds Strickland’s persona to be offensive.

Covington expressed that Strickland is pretending to embody qualities that he wishes Covington possessed. He mentioned a desire to physically confront Strickland, describing him as a pathetic excuse for a human being with a low IQ. According to Covington, Strickland’s statements are foolish, and he suggested that Strickland should have his mouth wired shut. Covington asserted that he is the one capable of defeating fighters who harbor resentment towards the UFC and the world. He expressed his eagerness to face Strickland in a fight.

When asked if he’d fight former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, Covington said he’s only seeking massive fights.

Covington stated that the possibility of a fight with Robert is no longer on the table. According to Covington, Robert lost the title and was defeated in a contender fight, rendering him irrelevant. Covington asserted that he, on the other hand, is at the top of the division and on the verge of becoming the welterweight champion. He emphasized his preference for only pursuing the most significant and compelling fights the UFC has to offer.

Covington expressed confidence that the UFC would not invest time in arranging a fight with Robert, given the lack of relevance and the business-oriented nature of the sport. He emphasized that he aligns with the interests of the UFC, being a “yes man” and a company man, and is willing to agree with whatever the UFC suggests, understanding that the focus is on creating the most significant and lucrative matchups for both fans and the organization.

Do you feel Covington is turning this sport into an unhealthy competition or is it normal for a fighter to act this way? Don’t forget to let us know about your thoughts in the comment section!
