On Saturday’s main card at Madison Square Garden in New York, Dern lost to Jessica Andrade via TKO in the second round.

Even though Dern recovered from several knockdowns with bravery, Andrade’s strength proved to be too much in the end. Dern shared a photo of her right eye shiner on Instagram to talk about the loss.

She reflected on the recent event, acknowledging that everything unfolds at the right time. Despite initially hoping for their best performance at MSG and not their first TKO loss, she expressed trust in God’s plans. She mentioned the unexpected emotional intensity during the fight, admitting that it deviated from the intended strategy of avoiding risky exchanges. She recounted experiencing four knockdowns, emphasizing the learning opportunity presented in the face of adversity. She recognized the inherent risks of entering the octagon, expressing anticipation for a good fight given both fighters’ aggressive styles. Despite falling short in this instance, the speaker remained focused on the ultimate goal of winning the belt. Gratitude was extended to those who supported them in both victory and defeat.

She apologized for any disappointment and assured her that, despite the emotional toll, she was physically fine. The plan was to return to family, especially her daughter, and use the experience to train more diligently for a comeback. She acknowledged the need to approach future challenges with greater composure, acknowledging their emotional nature. She concluded with a determination to continue , using the phrase “fall seven times and get up eight.”

In her last six races, Dern has now alternated between victories and defeats. Before being stopped by Andrade, Dern won UFC Fight Night 223 by main event decision, earning her a Fight of the Night bonus.
