Jared Cannonier Is Ready To Make History In The Middleweight Title Scene

The Killa Gorilla says that the talking time is now over and it’s time to take some serious action. He says he’s gonna win the title this time no matter what comes his way. Is the backup fighter saying this just to get the spotlight? Is Jared a man of his word? Will Jared be able to win the title he is talking about? Continue reading to find out!
Israel Adesanya vs. Sean Strickland’s championship battle, which follows prelims on ESPNews/ESPN+ and early prelims on ESPN+ on Saturday and heads the pay-per-view main card at Qudos Bank Arena, is set to feature backup fighter Cannonier (17-6 MMA, 10-6 UFC).

Less than five weeks after learning that his skills would be required, Cannonier claimed his primary focus has been on gaining weight because the UFC is paying him a pretty penny to put in his bank to do so. The UFC has never had to find a replacement opponent at the last minute, but Cannonier says he’ll be prepared for it and believes he has a tactical advantage because he’s already faced Adesanya (24-2 MMA, 13-2 UFC) and Strickland (27-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC).
Cannonier stated that it had been more of a diet camp than a fight camp. He mentioned that he had fought both competitors before, so he wasn’t overly concerned about what he would do there. He also mentioned that he wasn’t necessarily game-planning for one or the other; instead, he was ready to go in there, fight both of them and secure the victory.
Cannonier is like a contender burning with the desire of becoming the champion. Will he be able to seize the title when the opportunity arises or is he all talk? Guess we won’t know until the match. What do you guys feel the future holds for Cannonier? Don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comment section!
