Francis Wants To Prove That He’s More Than Just An MMA Fighter Trying To Box

Against Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou wants to show that he is more than just a “one-shot guy.” Looks like Francis has either taken something to his heart and has an inferiority complex or he wants to put up some competition and prove himself. Will this UFC heavyweight champion be able to achieve what he’s talking about? Continue reading to find out!
On October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Ngannou makes his professional boxing debut against Tyson Fury in a 10-round contest.

The former UFC heavyweight champion is renowned for his one-punch knockout ability, which has put Stipe Miocic, Alistair Overeem, and Cain Velasquez out of commission. Ngannou, though, asserts that he has more to give than just a powerful blow.

Ngannou stated during Tuesday’s open workout media scrum in Las Vegas that he intended to prove something. He explained that he believed one could rely on a single powerful punch for a while, but not indefinitely. He mentioned that he had heard a similar story in the past, and it felt like deja vu.
Before deciding to switch to MMA, Ngannou began his fight-sports career in boxing. As a result, “The Predator” claims he is only returning to his roots.

Ngannou acknowledged that there was a distinction between the two sports. He clarified that he had never considered them to be identical. He pointed out that while there were some similarities due to both being combat sports, they differed significantly in terms of their emphasis, training methods, stances, and other aspects. He also mentioned that it was important to remember that he began his boxing career before transitioning to MMA, and in doing so, he had to adapt his boxing style to be compatible with MMA, as it wouldn’t have been effective otherwise.
For Ngannou, the matchup between Fury and the WBC heavyweight champion is not MMA vs. boxing.
Ngannou conveyed that he viewed the upcoming fight as a matchup between two boxers. He explained that in preparation for this fight, he was adopting a boxing-focused training approach and mentality, rather than approaching it as an MMA fighter. He emphasized that he was training specifically as a boxer and no longer identifying himself primarily as an MMA athlete. He expressed his hope that others would also recognize him as a boxer for this bout.
Do you think this matchup is gonna be a success? Who do you think is gonna be victorious? Should this match even happen? Do let us know your thoughts in the comment section!
