“Korean Zombie” Discusses His Retirement Plan

Chan Sung Jung, also known as the “Korean Zombie,” has publicly stated his retirement plan. He isn’t ready to leave the octagon without a flawless win on UFC Fight Night 225. He wants to make the final fight of his MMA career something worth remembering.

Will this be” Korean Zombies;’ last performance, or will we see more of him in the future? Continue reading to find out!

“The Korean Zombie” hasn’t been afraid to admit that he’s nearing the end of his career in wrestling. The featherweight main event at Singapore Indoor Stadium, which will be broadcast on ESPN+ on Saturday, will feature former champion Max Holloway (24-7 MMA, 20-7 UFC), but Jung (17-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC) wanted at least one more high-profile battle before it was finished.

Jung expressed to reporters, with the assistance of an interpreter, during UFC Fight Night 225 media day that he had long desired to face Holloway. He mentioned that when he envisioned a match against Holloway, he anticipated a lively exchange of blows. He noted that both fighters would likely become fatigued throughout the battle, resulting in an entertaining and engaging fight.

Jung begins the matchup with Holloway as a huge underdog in the betting. The odds make Holloway an 8-to-1 favorite, indicating that a lopsided outcome is anticipated.

However, Jung doesn’t consider these words to be important. He stated that he’s stepping into the fighting arena with a strong belief in winning and is sure that he can achieve a big surprise victory.

Jung mentioned that he holds respect for Max. He acknowledged Max as a living legend and a renowned figure in this weight class. Jung pointed out that he had faced three legends in this division previously, including Jose Aldo and Alexander Volkanovski. While he respected Max, he emphasized that his respect didn’t imply any intention to take it easy. Jung conveyed his anticipation of winning the fight and asserted his determination to give his all in the matchup.

Jung, 36, has experienced a lot of hardship throughout his career. There is no doubt that the recurrent use of violence in his fight performances has had an impact. He won’t declare his retirement until UFC Fight Night 225 because he seems to be in terrific shape physically and emotionally. Before making any significant decisions, he wants to watch how Saturday’s events play out in the octagon.

Jung expressed uncertainty about the future, stating that predicting the outcome is challenging. He remarked that it’s tough for a fighter to admit when their career ends. Jung explained that he would need to gauge his performance in the octagon to make a judgment. He mentioned that he would evaluate himself after this fight and determine his next steps. It’s hard to admit that you’ve reached an age where you are useless to society. All that is left for you is to sit back and relax. This may sound fun, but when you are at that place where you have nothing to keep yourself occupied with, you feel useless.

Will this be the last fight of his MMA career, or does he have more time left in the octagon? Let us know about your thoughts in the comment section!
