Patricio Freire Considering Flyweight Drop For Fourth Division’s Championship After Winning at Bellator 297

Days away from pulling off an extreme feat, Patricio Freire has already begun toying with the idea of surpassing it. So, continue reading the details of his ambitious plans!

In the co-main event super-fight at Bellator 297 on Friday, Freire (35-5 MMA, 23-5 BMMA) will take on bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis (22-5 MMA, 4-0 BMMA). He was the lightweight champion before taking the featherweight crown.

Freire typically made up for his lack of height with girth at featherweight. At the pre-fight press conference on Tuesday, Freire, a little boxer, seemed sophisticated and reiterated how simple the cut had been.

Freire expressed his astonishment at the apparent ease with which the weight-class reduction process unfolded. He mentioned that he had diligently followed a disciplined diet regimen. This resulted in him being a mere eight pounds above the targeted weight. He noted that it had never been as convenient as it currently was.

Surprisingly, he found it easier to make this weight than when he was in the featherweight division. He conveyed a sense of feeling both physically and mentally prepared. He stated that the journey towards this weight class had been remarkably effortless. Even surpassing the ease of his previous weight-cutting experiences. He concluded he was fully prepared to astound the world with his performance.

The cut has been so simple that Freire suggested a fourth division’s belt may be sought after. Freire has begun considering joining the flyweight class that Bellator recently introduced.

He expressed the need to achieve victory as his priority, but he was still determining the course of action. He mentioned Patchy Mix being an interim champion and pondered the possibility of pursuing a fourth belt. Freire also acknowledged his positive state of mind while leaving the outcome to be determined.

Before accepting the fight against Sergio, he mentioned that it had not been on his mind. He stated that he was approximately seven kilos above the featherweight division and acknowledged the difficulty of making weight. If he emerged victorious, the belt became available for a challenger.

For Freire, 35, a desire to avoid being comfortable drives him to pursue records and extraordinary deeds. While other winners are happy to defeat opponents in their weight class, Freire has deliberately pursued uncharted waters.

Given his long record of accomplishments, fans, media, and competitors frequently consider Freire the greatest Bellator fighter ever. Instead of participating in the conversation, Freire prefers to shape it through his actions.

Freire stated that he had yet to talk about or think about who the best was. He believed that such judgments were for other people to make. He emphasized that he focused solely on accomplishing the mission while leaving the decision-making to others. He suggested they should examine numbers and facts to form their opinions.

So, what have you examined of him so far? Let us know in the comments below.
