Did Dricus Du Plessis Manhandle Israel Adesanya Ten Years Ago?

Dricus has made a major claim about himself and Israel Adesanya, leaving his fans shocked! However, Adessanya, who Du Plessis claims to have defeated ten years ago, doesn’t completely agree with his side of the story.

Continue reading to find out what the two fighters are talking about!

The first time Adesanya mentioned training with Du Plessis was at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand. Du Plessis, according to Adesanya, won the grappling. But he was the dominant one in striking.

This is where things got heated up! Because Du Plessis doesn’t completely agree with Adesanya’s story.

Du Plessis informed The Schmo that they had trained together in Thailand and mentioned that he had been around 19 years old at that time. Du Plessis acknowledged that his training partner had already established a significant MMA record during that period. Du Plessis recalled having a record of 3-0 at the time they trained together and stated that his training partner had admitted to being defeated by him in the grappling exchanges. Du Plessis confirmed the accuracy of his training partner’s statement, acknowledging that he had indeed dominated Adesanya in the grappling and wrestling exchanges.

However, Du Plessis clarified that they had not engaged in any striking practice during their training sessions. According to Du Plessis, his training partner’s claim of winning in striking was a means of protecting his ego. Du Plessis emphasized that they had exclusively focused on sparring, grappling, and wrestling without participating in a single round of striking together. Du Plessis expressed his certainty about this fact, stating that it was something that would have been memorable and easily recollected.

On July 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Du Plessis will face Robert Whittaker. Surprisingly, Adesanya wants the South African fighter to win this bout.

This is because, in light of these claims, the fighters became personal with each other on who’s gonna be the first actual African UFC champion. Du Plessis even disregarded Adesanya’s words and told him to keep his wishes and sympathy to himself.

Du Plessis advised Adesanya to think twice before wishing for something, stating, “I don’t care about his hopes or wishes. I will secure victory on my terms, and it is approaching rapidly, as I previously mentioned.” Du Plessis confidently declared that when he competes for the championship belt, his opponent will be Adesanya. Du Plessis acknowledged Adesanya’s statement of hoping for his victory, considering it a positive sentiment. However, he made it clear that he did not rely on hope, as he believed that success could not be attained by chance or accident.

Du Plessis emphasized that his victories would not be attributed to chance or someone else’s hopes. He stressed that his success was a result of his hard work and his position as the best fighter. Du Plessis acknowledged that his ex-training partner would eventually have an opportunity to face him, but he clarified that he was not the one initiating the challenge. When the appropriate time arrived, Du Plessis assured that he would face The Last Stylebender in the fight.
