Chael Sonnen Considers Aljamain Sterling A Highly Disrespected Champion

Chael Sonnen just called Aljamain Sterling the most disrespected world champion!

We recently saw Aljo’s fight-skill exhibit at UFC 288 when the Bantamweight winner defeated Henry Cejudo in his third title defense. Also, that’s not his only claim to fame. He has also won nine consecutive UFC bouts, creating the longest streak in the division’s history. Additionally, he will be now be facing Sean O Malley at UFC 292.

However, he asked for time to heal before this bout. UFC president Dana White scoffed at this, saying if he can’t fight, he should just say so. He shouldn’t agree to fight and then say “if his body is up for it.” As per Dana, this statement leaves the fans confused and wondering.

But this puts a question mark on why Sterling isn’t appreciated and acknowledged for his work. And Chael Sonnen has a strong opinion about this situation. So, stick around to get to know his views.

Sonnen voiced his opinion on YouTube, saying The Funkmaster wants to get credited for some things, and he is justified. He added that he hasn’t seen a world champion get more disrespected. Moreover, this is a common practice in UFC. He then addressed the incident when everybody lost their cool over the fact that he became a world champion through disqualification.

In addition, this wasn’t just the reaction of viewers but also the pundits. And this is just the beginning of Sonnen ripping apart sports fans and officials. He then highlighted the role of commission members. Sonnen said they also had issues with the referee allowing a world title to be transferred via disqualification. Sonnen added that he didn’t understand this behavior.

He then listed the fight rules, “Don’t poke his eyes, don’t bite the son of a b*tch, and don’t kick him when he’s down. One was egregiously violated.” It was also surprising that Aljo had to fight to get his efforts acknowledged even after beating former dual-champion Cejudo.

He further said, “We can bring in the greatest and most decorated combat athlete in the history of time. If we do that, we get Cejudo back, get rid of Aljo, and the world can be fixed. Aljo didn’t follow the script.” However, the officials and fans weren’t happy with this. Instead of appreciating his commitment to the sport and guts, they got angry. He then called people out for being mean to Aljo and disrespecting him. He ended his rant by saying that people had been rude and decided to hurt the world champion.

Sonnen has brought up a valid point. Furthermore, Sterling’s upcoming fight with Sean O’Malley on August 19 in Boston could change the status quo. However, nothing is guaranteed, and things may worsen for him depending on the fight’s outcome.

But what do you think of his social standing? Is he not getting his due respect, or is Sonnen creating unnecessary drama to stay relevant? Comment below to let us know!
